Human perversity is having an indelible effect on the health of the planet.

CO2 emissions today are racing past historical thresholds.

Biodiversity loss rates have become worrying enough to warrant phrases such as ‘biological annihilation’, ‘the vanishing’, and ‘mass extinction’.

Unsustainable groundwater use is causing the very ground beneath our feet to subside.

Even our fabled ability to bury our heads in the sand will soon be a wasted skill, as ‘an improbable global shortage’ makes this ubiquitous seeming mix of weathered rock and minerals harder to get our hands on.

TO BE CLEAR, THE EARTH IS TEETERING ON THE BRINK. AND IT IS ABOUT TO GO OVER THE EDGE.

The phenomenally rapid climb in CO2 levels almost guarantees a disastrous increase in global temperatures in the next 100 years.

It is estimated that a 3-degree Celsius rise in temperature shall be the final ‘tipping point’, after which humanity will have no choice but to take a backseat and watch the Earth lose all Arctic ice, see its sea-levels rise by a mind-boggling 25 metres, and endure extreme weather events which bring our way of life to a harrowing end.

Thus, it is possible to reach the distressing conclusion that the 21st century shall be an age of extraordinary change & crisis (whether we realise it, or not) and by definition, a crisis requires that important decisions be made. Decisions made by ordinary inhabitants which can help us stave off this crisis, and save our home. But, how do we make these decisions without possessing knowledge of the facts relevant to the crisis?

THIS IS WHERE EXCAVATE.IN INTENDS TO HELP.

Our mission is to work towards the collection & dissemination of much-needed relevant knowledge, by collaborating with responsible institutions, journalists, researchers, film-makers, lawyers, activists, and other participants.

We sincerely believe that if we are to reverse this collective fall into the abyss and create a world capable of providing shelter to future generations (of all life forms), we must learn to identify & protect, the subtle connections which make us all part of a much wider whole.

The desire to dig a little deeper, to find these connections, and – more importantly – helping the ordinary inhabitant understand and protect them, is the driving force behind our endeavour.

We hope to be a meaningful addition to the efforts of the thousands who have dedicated their lives to the betterment of our home and its inhabitants.

MOMENTS OF CRISIS OFTEN BRING CLARITY AND A WILL TO ACT TOGETHER.

EXCAVATE.IN IS BORN OF SUCH CONVICTION AND CLARITY.
